- 01Pick your carrier, state and coverageThe carrier is the company named on the declarations page, not the agency that sold it. If it is not in the list, type the name.
- 02Read the answerOne signature, a rewrite with the same carrier, a move at renewal, or a replacement quote, with the reason in plain words.
- 03Bring it to the walletUpload the declarations page and the wallet confirms the answer against the policy itself, then opens the signing step.
What the checker looks at
Three facts decide whether a policy can move: whether the carrier accepts a change of agent, whether CoverMatch is appointed with that carrier for that line of coverage in your state, and whether your state is one where we are licensed. The checker answers from those three, using the same carrier rules the wallet applies when you upload a policy.
Why the carrier matters more than the agency
The agency that sold you the policy does not decide whether it can move; the carrier does. Most carriers that work through independent agents accept a signed change-of-agent letter at any time, some only in the weeks before renewal, and carriers that sell directly do not take agent changes at all.
When the answer is no
A no today is not the end of it. The checker offers a replacement quote from the carriers we work with, or you can upload the policy and choose a reminder before it renews, so the comparison happens while there is still time to switch.
